Ok so this got me thinking.
Where, when and why would have those 2 fought?
If you consider that Madara was an adult when he formed the Leaf with Hashirama, and that since the Leaf was formed until the Valley of the End fight shouldng have passed much time, and that the Leaf was the 1st shinobi village to be founded.
Also Oonoki is the 3rd Tsuchikage so he sould be around Hiruzen age.
Since the 1st and 2nd Hokages didn't seem to stay long as Kage either, and same must have happening in the Stone.

From the anime Hiruzen actually even looks older

So my theory is that Oonoki would be 10 years or so older than Hiruzen, which wouldn't make way too old to still be alive and still around 16-18 in the times before there was shinobi villages.
Madara and Oonoki shouldn't have fought 1 on 1 like Madara did with Hashirama in the Valley of the End but it might have been a clan Vs clan war where both of them participated.
The reasons i say that its because i can't see the fight happening after not only the Leaf but the Stone been founded and still happening before the Valley of the End.

Wasn't there a time before the VoTE battle where Madara left Konoha and traveled around because he was mad about not being Hokage? I can't remember, but I think he did. If so, that's when they probably fought, but if not than I have no idea.

They may have fought each other on only one occasion and that has been mentioned by Uchiha; after Madara defected from Konoha after he wasn't chosen as the Hokage.

But, I have a feeling that Onoki is much older than you speculate. That's because, Second Mizukage and Second Tsuchikage killed each other in a battle. After that, Onoki should have been appointed as the Tsuchikage, which means he should have been quite matured at that time (say 25 years or more). After that, 3rd and 4th Mizukages had completed their reigns and the 5th Mizukage's reign was completely stable. This means, 3rd Tsuchikage had lived through the reigns of 3 Kages from the Hidden Mist Village. Concurrently, if we check with Konoha, he had fought Madara at some point, which states that, he was no child at that time and was a Kage level shinobi. But, at Hashirama's death, Hiruzen was still a teenager, which means the age difference between Hiruzen and Onoki should be vast.

I expect him to be atleast 20-25 years elder to Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Maybe when clans went around fighting each other before the the leaf village was founded? Like when madara talked about how Uchiha and Senju(or whatever) were the two strongest clans, maybe the Uchiha clan faught Oonoki's clan?
