I started watching the original series back when I was in third grade and my friend and me would always watch it together, but since we were so young we really did not grasp the big ideas, just the fact that there were ninja fighting each other and they each had unique powers. After the Chuunin Exam's arc I really stopped watching the show because when Naruto started learning about toad's I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. Fast forward to 6th grade. One day I was really bored and looked up naruto episodes on google and started watching it and loved it. Now im a freshman in Highschool and LOVE naruto. I wait for every thursday to plop down in my bed and watch the best anime ever made (Aside from Dragonball Z of course) Anyways, Im new to the site so I wanna take this opportunity to say hello!

Chapter 446 is pretty much right where the anime is at, its in the middle of nagato telling his back story. Thats pretty much how I started with the manga, I read from where I was in the anime and then once I got to the end I just started from the beginning of the series. Now I've read it through two times and have gone back to specific chapters more times then I care to count, lol. most of which due to looking stuff up before posting!
Edit: If you wanted to start at the beginning of the pain ark though then chapter 416 would be the best place.

I recommend what Hitori said. Read till' chapter 505 (the current one) from 416 (beginning of Pain ark) and then start over! It's really interesting and it's a fast way to remember all the events in Naruto (there's not a single filler in the manga. duh!)

Lol yeah manga's read backwards from what we are used too. Also they always come out colorless. Some chapters will have a few color pages in the front though.

Alright cool, Im getting a bit confused on thee action scenes cause their kinda hard to follow, I guess thats what the anime is for though =P

Yeah pretty much. I read the manga for the story and then watch the anime for the detail in the fights.
