You are right. Since most anime characters evolve their strengths during a crucial fight. This thing goes in every anime character. Notice that they all became stronger after every battle.

Zetsu did say that naruto was stronger then sasuke after naruto killed pain, but that was before sasuke showed that he had the power to use susanoo, witch zetsu said susanoo made the user invincible because the sheild could block any attack and the sword sealed anything into and ever lasting genjutsu. i dont know about you, but that sounds pretty unstopable. and for those who said that naruto is stronger because of the nine tails, i dont think it is a factor because sasuke already showed he was powerful enough to suppress it when naruto and sasuke first saw each other in shippuden, before he had the mangekyo.

sasuke_ i believe the Rinnegan is much more powerful then the Sharingan, but, Pain was also much younger then Tobi-Madara (assuming it's Madara); So a 120 year old has advantage is the field of Knowledge, besides that he supposedely has a EMS, which puts him at a great advantage.

Danzo:
Kishi made Danzou a beast. Uchiha + Senju DNA. Mokuton and 10 Izanagi. Summons. Seals. Mega fuuton.Sasuke beat this freak, making him the strongest single person in this manga.

Itachi:
Itachi was the strongest charachter in the databook.Even Akatsuki leader(Tobi)showed that he is afraid from Itachi when he said:"with Itachi dead-there is no one else troubling me,so much for I won't tach Konoha" and Sasuke killed him.
Like we know Itachi didn't wanna kill Sasuke.But in this fight we saw Itachi's sasanoo for first time.Also He Sasuke the first who broke out of Itachi's Tsukuyomi.

Also he killed deidara unlike:Kakashi,Naruto and Gaara.
He killed Orochimaru unlike:Itachi,Naruto,3rd hokage,tsunade and jiraiya.
He defeated Kilerbee unlike Kisame
He defeated Naruto
He fought all 5 kages and he survived.
