As a character Kisame now has everything to make him epic on par with the top of the best characters Kishimoto designed so far.
A tragic past, an interesting and complex character, impeccible dertermination and a glorious end.
However, it's a shame that this top class character had to die without ever having the chance on a real fight

And then this thrilling cliffhanger to hopefully continue with full focus on an incredibly epic fight! Yeah!

wow! great chapter, liked the flashback with Kisame and Itachi, thought for a moment they would put up a fight!
Madara/Tobi wanting the Rinnegan? But what about his moon's eye plan, he needs the Tsukuyomi for that right? So is the Rinnegan for himself? Doesn't he posses the MS and in that case not the EMS, so that he isn't able to cast it on his own and that is way he needs Sasuke! If he do posses the EMS, or just MS, what is his intentions with the Rinnegan?

Yeah now I'm just waiting for Sasuke_ to charge into this thread and explaining us that narrator's comments are absolutely worthless because he likes Sharingan so much better and can't accept what's beeing presented to us in the most obvious way.

Also he can't be sure to really know what's written in that Uchiha catacombs I guess, after all the only way he can know the Rinnegan part yet would be if he was absolutely sure that Nagato told him the truth about what's written there.

My thoughts on this: Do Konan have some superb skills we don't know about? To me she seems like one of the weakest and she wants to go up against one of the strongest(in Akatsuki). And after what she showed in the fights against Jiraiya her odds isn't very high IMO, but maybe that was just because she didn't wanted to kill him, and after she now wants to kill Madara/Tobi, then she could have hidden some superb ace in her sleeve..

I think that with combination of the jubi with rinnegan you get the final form of the sharingan.Like Madara said:

Yeah, but his big Moon eye's plan would be kinda screwed if he hasn't got the MS to cast Tsukuyomi.. But Maybe he is planning to get one Rinnegan and keep one Sharingan, dunno..

Great chapter, that was a fitting end for kisame. I'm excited for tobi vs konan, maybe we will hear some more akatsuki backstory in their fight. As to why tobi wants the rinnegan, I think it is specifically for gedo mazo. He said after the pain fight that he needed a new pawn to link with gedo mazo, I'm pretty sure that is the main reason he is so interested in sasuke. Probably the technique is still sealed in nagato's eyes, but now that sasuke has EMS tobi can transfer it to sasuke's eyes. He needs that summon in order to create the jyuubi, so unless he has those eyes his moon's eye plan is a bust.

This definitely confirms my post of sage of 6 paths and the rinnegan. So Madara def needs the rinnegan to summon the !0-tailed beast. He already has a space time space-time EMS sharingan. So what if he takes the rinnegan and plans to control Sasuke's EMS sharingan for the Moon's Eye plan. I think he is after the rinnegan for himself so maybe he will have one sharingan eye and one rinnegan eye, bc so many people have one eye (Madara, Orbito, Kakashi, Zetsu) only a few characters have both (Nagato, Sasuke, Sage of 6-paths, Hinata and Neji)

It was a great chapter. Kisame truly died an epic death. After this chapter, I just feel how vigorously he supported Akatsuki and Tobi. I totally respect this man.

Loved to see Itachi and his MS.

Completely disagree. An Epic death would have been not beeing beaten by Guy like that... Epic would be if that fight had exhausted him to the limit, that Naruto or Killer Bee would have joined to help... That would have been epic. Like this... it was just sad and undeserving. Like so many others, I had a soft spot for Kisame. Being one able to face the Hachibi this was really low...

You are looking at it from the wrong angle. What was so cool about kisame's end was why he died and how he died, not who defeated him. The fact that he took his own life to protect his comrades was very moving, and a side of kisame that I don't think any of us really saw coming until last week. It shows that there is still honor and loyalty, even amongst the villains. When you look at his goal as protecting information instead of protecting his life, then he really did achieve victory despite being surrounded by top class ninja. none of them were able to stop him from killing himself, he died on his own terms. As far as his fight against gai, gai was just a poor match for kisame. Without samehada and while facing someone who doesn't rely on chakra kisame was greatly weakened. The nature of his fighting style meant that the stronger the opponent, the stronger he was himself. So really gai is one of a very select few people who could defeat kisame in a head to head class.

You are right. I understand the logic, though again, it was not epic. Epic would be something that at least would last a couple of manga issues. Not like: one move, one "kill". But getting back to the topic, you are very right in all that you say, but still it feels too shallow. It feels that Kisame deserved more. Also I still hate the fact that Guy can simply open every gate plus the garage door and the neighbours backyard door and not suffer anything at all. And for heavens sake! Kisame was defeated by an "air current"! And I still can't accept the fact that all that chakra did not affect Guy in any way! I mean, if that was really a physical attack which would mean that he literally went through a chakra shark! Of course his ultra-fast attack apparently evaporated the water! And he never dehydrates... it is amazing. I am sure Guy flies as well when he farts! I am sorry, but I am very disappointed with this stretch of the manga. But I'll live with it...

I need to read another translation of this chapter 508, because it looks like Tobi Madara is calling Konan: :"NAGATO" it might be a typo or just a translation issue. To the best of my knowledge Nagato already died, unless somehow he has deposited within Konan some kind of life force (himself as a baby), chakra or special powers. I am really confused about that last line from TobiI. I need a translation either from Sleepy Fans or in another language.... The Rinnegan is supposed to have power over life and death, maybe Kishi is going to pull something out of his sleeve and surprise us all, once more....

I too read and re-read that last page, It might be a typo though. But if its not WoW! What does this all mean? Konan is realy Nagato? or maybe she is one of pains paths? who knows. The fyt between her and Tobi might turn out to reveal a whole lot of secrets.

I thought it was like he meant, the Rinnegan=Nagato. But who knows maybe you are right.
