Hey, I thought I better open a thread for all those small thingies that sneak into existence some mystical way and appear on my hard drive while I sleep. Or something like that. I'm going to update the opening post from time to time. More or less finished projects so far:Chapter 510: Konan's End (20.09.2010) 509 Konan Portrait 509 (quick colouring practice) (19.09.2010) Chapter 510 Konan versus Madara Panel: "Shock" (18.09.2010) First Version Second Version Itachi based on Senya/Itachi's Theme (02.09.2010) Intermediate Result, however it's done for now. If I feel like doing so I'm going to do some fine-tuning. Original data is 2000x1200. Currently working on:Chapter 446 Naruto facing Nagato (full page) First Panel Second Panel Chapter 507 Kisame in a ForestFront Page of Manga 508 with KisameIdeas not in work right now:Something including this shot and a banner thematising the team of Kisame and Itachi.A Minato/Naruto banner because of this looovely Minato front page with Minato smiling and it's becoming so obvious that he must be related to Naruto So far I'm still concerned with coloring that Minato image, however here's a first waypoint. Having a guy like this as a leader, with such a great smile! We germans got Angela Merkel right now... Misc:Here are some small things that happened to be made at some point for no specific reasons or just as parts for a bigger project. Not all of them are complete and they don't necessarily make any sense at all.

Random thought of the moment: Gotta make an image based on Itachi's Theme/Senya. Will show Itachi standing in the rain and gazing into the distance, maybe mouth slightly opened. Maybe I should, very slighty, include a hint on Sasuke because Itachi would think about him in such a moment. Sadly, Sasuke doesn't have a fix symbol imo which could be decently placed to remind of him. So the only possibility of using such an allusion might be to place him somewhere in the picture, maybe into clouds. Very lucent, in a way that he would be hard to recognize on the first view. Maybe even to an extent that it takes serious focus to see him, but in the internet nobody would find it then I mean this kind of lucent shadow that makes one thinking "wait, did I just see Sasuke there?" on the first view, this kind of noticing his presence without really seeing him for half a second. If you actually read this, you might know why so few of my ideas become reality. Lots of ideas, instantly an inner vision of how everything should look like. Then, the thought "Ok, now I need a forest as a background, clouds, rain, hours of editing Itachi into the right pose including learning how to draw him myself to make it truly suitable, a shadow of Sasuke." Done half heartedly and the result will only look like trash, great. Yeah, that sounds like a lot of work to me. My Shikamaru genes are giving me the alarm already. As I expected of myself I cannot finish anything before starting something else, so I searched and found the Itachi shot, here in the version almost ready to be colorized: (I think not even Kishimoto was sure if we see his Sharingan or not, the original looks like half-sharingan ) I saw that some ppl at some forums were looking for the outlines, so if anyone here wants them as well you can get the PS data if you want. Sadly I screwed up and made them only in 800x800. Gonna be away for today so I can't even spend a minute on it today, so I thought I might just as well post the current state. Nowhere near done, but the approximately aimed style is roughly visible. I'm gonna stick to the anime style more or less, I don't want one of those results that look so far from the original style. Also still has some other flaws like a slight white shiloutte on the outline layer, gonna remove that later when I fit it in with a real background. At least I can tell that it's very enjoyable working with that shot <3 Edit: At least it's raining already, no I'm gonna search for a shot suitable to become a background one day. Kinda feel like Itachi right now for two reasons: Lost todays match in a Starcraft 2 league 0:2 and the friggin autumn makes my felt body temperature dropping by 3°C each time I look out of the window. So yeah, it's the shot of the moment for me, although I'm certain I'm gonna have to redo the rain anyways once the background is starting to take shape First I thought that it would be best to show Itachi down to the waist and some ground in the foreground, with forest taking roughly 1/3 of the image height beeing way in the background. But this would mean I had to add so much of Itachi to this shot, fitting in the perspective etc. So I guess I'll just show the top of the trees in the lower backgrounds and some rainy clouds at the top. I thought about lightning but that doesn't suit Itachi. He's way too calm for lightning. It will only rain. (He really isn't the snowy type either. He's the rain man.) With the clouds I'm lucky to have some years-old brush preset saved. Now I'm looking for a line of treetops. What a task, come on I'ld love to find a suitable one in the anime or manga because I'm too bad to draw one myself. And I'm sure to have seen a whole bunch of forest tops over the course of soon 400 anime episodes and more than 500 manga chapters. Just how to find it? It's not exactly the remarkable thing that appears in the storyline and stays in memory because it's so cool, it's a bunch of treetops Ok, away with all that old text ("developement diary" in the spoiler, I'm bad at deleting things forever ), here's an intermediate result with all elements in place. Gonna work it over a couple of times, maybe replacing the forest a couple of times, maybe adjusting the filters (light, colours etc.) and maybe working on that idea of slightly placing Sasuke. I think I should make the rain looking slower and heavier to pitch his character the right way. Gonna experiment on that. However, this one already can be called a result. (here's a full size link)

Do you mean that gap in the clouds, where there is no clouds at all? It somehow forms Sasuke's shilouette now that you meantion it, facing the viewer and having his right ellbow (from his perspective, from ours it would be on his left side) point away from him, but the right hand behind his back, in a way that his sword's tip is visible on the other side. Wow, I should stop speculating about this, after all he never was there

My current project is still far from beeing done, but here's the current state: Cover of chapter 508 Currently I've only finished the raw colours and a first, rough step of the shades (not even those are a 100% complete actually). I'm intending of making it one of those shots facing against the sun, with the sun beein partially covered by the shark, leading to a huge lense flare effect. Overall rather bright, but with a huge contrast (very important to me!) other than the current state is. Right now I'm working on the water effects on and around the shark. You can see that it's only at the head of the shark so far and I'll be experimenting with the style of those water parts since I'm not really happy about the current look, although the general style isn't bad imo. Well, I'm a lazy guy so the whole optics of those water parts is determined by filters right now, so it won't be a big deal changing them alot. If I possibly ever complete this in a way that I can agree on a 100% it should be a cool memento to Kisame, right as the cover page was intentended to be by Kishimoto anyways. That's why I aim for this idea of an emotional beatiful moment with the sun and high contrast. Edit: Here's the current state, still missing alot of different stuff sadly, it's kinda hard to progress for me right now. http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss20 ... tand-1.jpgHowever, I made a preview on the lense flare idea, a bit overdone and the overall look is crappy but it's just to emphazise what I want to reach in the end: http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/ss20 ... review.jpg

You could try to make some adjustment layers with some gradient overlays, and lower the opacity of them and try to add in the lens flare closer to the top right corner, these are just suggestions, love the way you colored the cover of the manga though, really looks good

Pain wrote: You could try to make some adjustment layers with some gradient overlays, and lower the opacity of them and try to add in the lens flare closer to the top right corner, these are just suggestions, love the way you colored the cover of the manga though, really looks good Thanks ^^ Well that was just merging all layers and creating the first lense flare effect there was, so don't worry the final result won't look that way Yeah I thought of using gradient overlays as well for that step, however it seems that I have to merge all layers before creating a lense flare, so it will necessarily be the last step anyways. First problem is to create a good looking sea foam for the lower corner. Actually the english language doesn't provide any good words for sea foam imo, makes me miss the german "Gischt" (for anyone thinking of this word in the english way it would sound funny as well, because the english "i" is pronounced like "ei" in german... german "i" is rather like the english "e" in the alphabet, just with less emphasis especially when it's standing before "sch" which is like the english "sh". And german "g" is always like english g in "google", but never like a "j") So in english pronounciation that word would be like "Gesht", a little bit at least. However, I have it made a way that doesn't look good but not too crappy either Working on the background sea and mountains now, then a little on the sky and readjusting highlights/shadows on the shark and Samehada before hopefully beeing done soon.

I really love your manga cover. I use it on my desktop background, hope it's okay though.

Here's the current state, I'm working on the sea part right now and have that current version of the sea foam in the very bottom front. http://yfrog.com/n5508covercolourisationzwjcurrent to-do-list: Highlights and shadows on the waves, quickly turning the mountains into something decent, working on the clouds, changing the colour of the sky, fitting in the shadows on Samehada, adding a second layer of shadow on Kisame, making some highlights/shadows on the shark, working on shark's nostrils (which actually aren't nostrils if I got that right about sharks ), eyes, maw and teeth, reworking that stupid rock. Yeah you see I'm just abusing this forums as a note pad

Hey, due to the number of visitors in the art forums here beeing relatively small, it's hard to keep a thread here updated all the time. Instead, Ive been posting in the more frequently visited Request thread as you probably noticed. However, I just opened a thread for all the half-way done but never finished colourisations of mine. Some are almost finished, some only consist of redrawn outlines. Here it is:http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthrea ... ost2216647Also, I'll upload all future finished works on my DeviantART account:http://t33k3ss3lch3n.deviantart.com/
